Shwebo

Shwebo is situated 29 kilometres from the west of Kyaukmyaung. Shwebo, the city from which Alaungpaya, the founder of the Third Burmese Kingdom came. Today, it is seen as the cradle of modern Burmese nationhood. Not far away are the ruins of Halin, the last capital of the Pyu people that was destroyed in AD 832.
